Syrinx Consulting Raises $27,000 for ALS Foundation for Life
WALTHAM, Mass., April 9, 2007 –
Syrinx Consulting Corporation, a full-service information technology consulting company, raised over $27,000 for the ALS Foundation for Life in its First Software Industry Poker Tournament, held on Sunday, April 1, 2007, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Waltham. Prizes were awarded to the top eight players with first and second place prizes valued at $2,000 and $1,000, respectively. The prize pools valued at $5,250 and all tournament expenses were donated by Syrinx Consulting. The ALS Foundation for Life is a Massachusetts non-profit corporation whose mission is to help improve the quality of life for the men and women who are forced to battle ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
“We are personally very familiar with the wonderful work of the ALS Foundation for Life in our local community and proud to support them with this charity poker tournament,” said Andrew Gelina, CEO of Syrinx Consulting.
“The turnout and support were amazing. We are so grateful for the support of Syrinx Consulting to help raise public awareness and funding to assist patients and families,” said Marie Carlson, a board member of the ALS Foundation for Life.
The ALS Foundation for Life, a non-profit 501 (c) (3), was founded by an ALS patient, Frank Carlson. While personally battling this disease each day, Frankie decided he wanted to invest his time and energy trying to help improve the quality of life for other ALS victims. The ALS Foundation for Life is built solely on volunteers. The mission of his foundation is to aid PALS and their families in acquiring financial assistance for home modifications, medical equipment and supplies to help maintain a sense of independence and dignity. Mr. Carlson lost his battle with ALS on July 2, 2004. His mission continues with the support of local businesses and the public.
